Skyrunner Fiber Infrastructure

Skyrunner has notified Fairview Forest’s Board that they are about to begin installing fiber infrastructure throughout our community. Work might begin as early as mid-April and conclude in late June. In the past, Skyrunner was considering an aerial install using utility poles, but it now seems they intend to bury most of the fiber in the utility easements. There may still be areas where burying the fiber is not an option.

Burying the fiber will likely cause some travel delays, especially along side roads. The Board will remain in contact with Skyrunner throughout this process and notify residents via text message or email of potential delays as we are made aware of them. While this process will undoubtedly cause some temporary headaches, the benefits outweigh the long-term headaches of an aerial installation (tree falls causing loss of internet).

As the infrastructure installation begins, Skyrunner has two requests:

  1. Residents are asked to remove any ground-level obstacles they may have placed in the utility easement. And, out of an abundance of caution, residents are asked to flag or mark any known buried waterlines, electric dog fences, etc. within the utility easement. Skyrunner will be working with 811 to identify underground hazards before they dig, but sometimes water systems installed in rural areas, for example, do not possess tracer wires that make them “visible” to 811 techs.
  2. During the infrastructure installation phase of this project, residents are asked to direct their questions and concerns to Wayne Craig (FFHA President) or Justin Hamel (FFHA VP). Wayne and Justin will remain in direct contact with Skyrunner’s project manager throughout this process.
